LCRC calls on School Board to Reject MSAAC
A little over one week ago, the 10th District GOP, the Loudoun County Republican Committee, and the Loudoun County Republican Women's Club issued a response to tactics used by the so-called "Anti-racist Parents of Loudoun County (ARPLC)." ARPLC initiated a campaign against Parents Against Critical Race Theory (PACT) and its supporters, soliciting people to "hack" their computers and to wage a mail campaign against and "expose ... publicly" those who disagree with ARPLC. ARPLC pledged to find and release people's public and private documents, a practice called "doxxing." The group's goal is to intimidate and ultimately silence those who hold opposing views. This behavior is reprehensible and incompatible with the American ideals of free thought and freedom of expression.
Another organization affiliated with Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is also attempting to stifle the free speech of anyone who does not adhere to Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Equity Committee dogma. Specifically, the Minority Student Achievement Advisory Committee (MSAAC) wrote on Twitter and Facebook: "There is strength in numbers and we believe wholeheartedly, that united, we can and will silence the opposition." The group has since removed its call to "silence the opposition" and apologized "to anyone who may have felt as though your voice would be silenced or who has been offended by our post..." Just this week, the Daily Wire reported that the Chair of the MSAAC called on LCPS to dismiss teachers who criticize equity training. The Chair of the MSAAC in an e-mail to the LCPS Superintendent, School Board Chair, Equity Committee, and the NAACP stated that "If our teachers and staff cannot be open and willing to learn how to be culturally competent then they do not need to be in the classrooms any longer as they will only hinder the process and most importantly cause irreparable harm to the vulnerable hearts and minds of our students."
The most egregious aspect of the original post is that MSAAC is an advisory board whose activities are hosted on LCPS property and is one which operates according to bylaws approved by the school system. Many of the racial policies at the heart of the controversy came from the school board's Equity Committee, which is comprised of both school board members and citizens, with MSAAC appointing four of the citizens. On March 4, Equity Committee member Tara Hewan called for "a system-wide ruling" banning students from wearing Donald Trump insignia because "it's a marginalization."
It is not acceptable to Loudoun County taxpayers that the LCPS system approve, subsidize, or affiliate with hate groups who seek stifle and "silence" any opposition to their political, social, and racist objectives. Accordingly, we, the 10th District GOP, the Loudoun County Republican Committee, and the Loudoun County Republican Women's Club, call on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and the Loudoun County School Board to immediately (1) sever its affiliation with the MSAAC (for its promotion of anti-free speech behavior), and (2) remove Beth Barts from the School Board (for her repeated acts of hate and demonization of taxpayers and school parents whose only crime is wanting an honest and unbiased education for their children).
