Feb. 19 - LEESBURG, VA. Republicans and Independents all over the 86th State House district - which includes parts of eastern Loudoun County -- bonded together today to support Gregg Nelson, one of Virginia's experienced and effective public servants. Nelson's issue-focused campaign in the special election to fill this seat is a lesson for what local Republican candidates need to emphasize this year.

"The takeaway from this election is that when Republicans focus on issues that matter to people's daily lives, we will compete vigorously in every election," said Jim Bonfils, chairman of the Loudoun County Republican Committee (LCRC). "The unity of Republicans in backing Gregg's positive campaign is exactly what we need to do to win this November."

The LCRC works with all Republican candidates running in Loudoun County, especially those running for local offices. Republicans currently hold all five countywide constitutional offices, with four of the offices on the ballot this year. All nine positions on the Board of Supervisors will also be on the ballot, and Republicans currently hold six of those seats.

"Our constitutional officers have each delivered outstanding results for Loudoun County, and our Republican supervisors have kept their promises to complete much needed road projects, bring more jobs to Loudoun, hold the line on taxes, and support our public schools," said Jim Bonfils. "These are records the LCRC is going to make sure all voters know, notwithstanding the efforts of Democrats to nationalize every race and ignore Republican accomplishments. Good things have been happening thanks to these Republican leaders."
