As Chairman of the Loudoun County Republican Committee of the Republican Party, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization, and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Glen A. Caroline, do hereby issue this call for a Party Canvass (Firehouse Primary) to be held at Belmont Ridge Middle School, 19045 Upper Belmont Place, Leesburg, VA 20176, with open voting starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m., March 6, 2010 for the purpose of:

  1. Reorganizing the Loudoun County Republican Committee by:

  A.  Electing a Chairman for the Loudoun County Republican Committee to serve as specified in the Plan of Organization; and

  B.  Electing up to 344 Precinct members representing all Loudoun County precincts as specified below, and 103 At Large members of the Loudoun County Republican Committee;

Dulles District: Sanders Corner, 6; Ashburn Farm, 8; Hillside, 7; Eagle Ridge, 5; Little River, 4; Mercer, 6; Hutchison, 7; Oak Grove, 1; Briar Woods, 4; Freedom, 7; Mill Run, 5; Dulles South, 7; Pinebrook, 5; Legacy, 3; Carter, 4.
Potomac District: Riverbend, 4; Algonkian, 5; Potomac Falls, 5; Cascades, 5; Buchanan, 2; Claude Moore Park, 4; Countryside, 4.
Blue Ridge District: Purcellville One, 6; Round Hill, 5; Hillsboro, 5; Hamilton, 9; Philomont, 5; Between the Hills, 1; Middleburg, 2; St. Louis, 3; Aldie, 2; Purcellville Two, 6; Woodgrove, 5.

2. Electing up to 2065 (413 votes x 5) Delegates and an equal number of Alternate Delegates to the 10th District Convention of Republican Party of Virginia to be held at 10:00 a.m. May 22, 2010, at Fauquier High School, 705 Warterloo Road, Warrenton, VA 20186, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. and closing at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of electing a Chairman of the 10th District Committee of Republican Party of Virginia. 

Qualifications for Participation

All legal and qualified voters of Loudoun County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions, or primaries encompassing their respective election districts. Both candidates and voters shall be required to sign a written pledge of support as outlined in the Plan of Organization of the Republican Party of Virginia, and stated below:

“I hereby declare that I intend to support all of the nominees of the Republican Party of Virginia for public office in the ensuing elections. I am in accord with the principles of the Republican Party of Virginia and have not participated in Virginia in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party in the past five (5) years, but if I have, I now renounce affiliation with any other political party.”

Filing Requirements

Candidates for the above elections must file a fully executed and signed official filing form available on the internet at www.loudoungop.com or www.rpv.org or by contacting Dr. Jeffery Maged, Nominations Committee Chairman, 19976 Augusta Village Place, Ashburn. VA 20147, H; (703)723-8192, C; (703) 728-9387, and returning same by U.S. Mail or hand delivery to Dr. Jeffery Maged at the above address, to be received not later than 5:00 p.m. on Saturday February 20, 2010. Postmarks shall NOT apply. Only candidates who have properly filed in accordance with this call shall be deemed eligible for election. If no more than the maximum number of candidates that can be elected to an office file for such office, all duly prefiled and qualified candidates for that office shall be deemed elected and no election held for that office. Further, if that is the case for each office to be voted upon at the canvass, the canvass shall be canceled in its entirety.

Filing Fees

There shall be no fees to vote in the Canvass. However, there are mandatory nomination fees for candidates of the above specified elections as follows: 1. Candidate for Chairman of Loudoun County Republican Committee, $150.00 non-refundable. 2. Candidate for Member of Loudoun County Republican Committee, $30.00 (covers dues for two years. If not elected and if requested, the fee shall be refunded.) and 3. Candidate for Delegate or Alternate to the 10th District Convention, a non-refundable registration fee of $15.00 is required.
